Cookie policy
Last updated: 19 June 2026
1. Introduction
DeepLearnLab Institute Inc. ("we," "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on deeplearnlab.one to operate the website, remember your privacy choices, and — only with consent — understand aggregate traffic patterns. This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones we use, how long they persist, and how you can manage preferences. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which governs personal information more broadly under PIPEDA.
2. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your browser or device when you visit a website. They may be "session" cookies (deleted when you close the browser) or "persistent" cookies (remaining until expiry or manual deletion). Similar technologies include local storage entries, which our cookie banner also uses to store your consent record without re-prompting on every visit.
Cookies can be "first-party" (set by deeplearnlab.one) or "third-party" (set by analytics or embedded providers). We minimize third-party cookies and load analytics scripts only after opt-in.
3. How we use cookies
3.1 Strictly necessary (essential) cookies
These cookies are required for basic website functionality and security. Because they are necessary to provide the service you request, PIPEDA recognizes that implied consent may apply, and our banner does not offer an off switch for this category.
- Consent storage (localStorage key: dll_cookie_pref): Remembers whether you accepted, rejected, or customised analytics cookies so the banner does not reappear unnecessarily. Duration: until you clear site data.
- Session integrity tokens: If present during form interactions, these protect against cross-site request forgery and maintain state across page loads. Duration: session.
3.2 Analytics cookies (optional)
With your consent, we may deploy privacy-oriented analytics to count page views, referral sources, and approximate device categories. We configure analytics to avoid collecting payment details or free-text contact messages. Analytics cookies are disabled by default until you click "Accept All" or enable them in "Customise."
- Purpose: Improve navigation, identify popular programme pages, and detect broken links.
- Data collected: Aggregated visit counts, truncated IP addresses, browser family, and coarse geography (province level).
- Duration: Typically thirteen months or less, per vendor defaults.
3.3 Marketing cookies
DeepLearnLab does not use advertising or retargeting cookies on deeplearnlab.one. We do not run social media pixel trackers on this site. If that changes, we will update this policy and request renewed consent before activating such technologies.
4. Cookie banner behaviour
When you first visit deeplearnlab.one, a banner appears at the bottom of the screen with three actions:
- Accept All: Enables essential and analytics cookies/storage.
- Reject Non-Essential: Enables essential storage only; analytics remain off.
- Customise: Opens a panel where you may toggle analytics while essential items stay locked on.
Your choice is saved in localStorage under the key dll_cookie_pref as JSON, for example: {"essential":true,"analytics":false,"marketing":false}. Clearing browser data for deeplearnlab.one resets preferences and will show the banner again.
5. Managing cookies in your browser
You can block or delete cookies through browser settings. Instructions vary by vendor:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Blocking all cookies may prevent the consent record from persisting and could affect form security features. Blocking only third-party cookies generally preserves essential first-party operation.
6. Do Not Track
Some browsers transmit "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals. Canada has no universal legal standard mandating DNT responses. We treat rejection of analytics via our banner as the authoritative expression of your preference for deeplearnlab.one.
7. Children
Our website and training services target adult learners. We do not knowingly collect cookie data from individuals under 19 for marketing analytics. Parents who believe a minor has submitted data should contact [email protected].
8. Updates
We may revise this Cookie Policy when we add features, change analytics providers, or respond to regulatory guidance. Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date. Continued browsing after an update constitutes notice; significant changes may trigger a fresh consent prompt.
